Beginning December 2010, the Chevrolet Volt will be on sale in limited quantitites and in limited markets in the United States. This unique car, powered by a lithium-ion battery pack and supplemented by a 1.4-liter four cylinder engine, has been in the works for several years. The hype has far exceeded the product's impact, nonetheless the Chevy Volt could eventually lay the groundwork for future vehicles utilizing what GM calls its Voltec technology.

What is so special about the Volt? Many things including that it will allow GM to finally say that it has built and sold an electric car. GM did build a modern electric car dubbed the EV1 beginning in the 1990s, but that program was canceled. GM never got beyond the test phase for those vehicles and received criticism for "killing the electric car" with some people suggesting a widespread conspiracy with the oil companies.

Conspiracy theory aside, the earlier electric vehicle or EV likely cost too much to produce and that technology wasn't as advanced as what will be found in the Chevy Volt. For one, the lithium-ion battery pack is far superior than the nickel-cadmium pack used in the EV1, offering better range and lighter materials. In addition, the testing GM has been doing with the Volt demonstrates that the car won't wilt under Arizona desert driving conditions or freeze up in a Minnesota winter.

With the expected rare use of the gas and generator, there are concerns about having unused gas going stale unnoticed. The engine must occasionally be cycled to keep this from happening as well as to keep the parts lubricated. Regular monitoring of the gas situation is being done by the vehicle's computer. A message will be given to the driver of the need to let the generator go and thus the need to go beyond the EV range. When the warning is ignored after two times, the Volt will start its generator to burn some fuel on its own which will stop upon completion of the engine and fuel maintenance mode. The car goes back to pure EV operation after.

The Volt sports a stylish and futuristic appeal and has a roomy interior featuring leather/suede upholstery, multi-level heating driver and passenger seats, rear seat bench, split-folding rear seatback, power steering, power windows, power mirrors, cruise control, tilt-adjustable steering wheel, audio and cruise controls on steering wheel, universal remote transmitter, keyless ignition, rear view camera and retained accessory power. It is also equipped with state-of-the-art entertainment and safety features such as Bluetooth wireless data link for navigation system and hands-free phone, built-in hard drive, video monitor, 4-wheel ABS. stability and traction control, airbags, child safety locks and seat anchors, remote anti-theft alarm system, passenger airbag occupant sensing deactivation, and auto delay off headlamps, among others.

Dubbed as the only electric car that uses gas to create its own electricity, the Chevro let Volt allows access to other options if and when the plug-in option is not readily available.

Features and Specs/Safety: The Volt offers a spacious cabin with seating for four, and has some unique styling features that are very desirable, high-tech and futuristic. The Leaf also offers this same couture of design. However, the Leaf seats five persons, not four, and is a bit more spacious. The federal government has not yet performed its crash test ratings on either of these models. Both models feature full airbags and anti-lock brakes, and the Volt even offers a pedestrian alert function.

The interior is state-of-the-art and very modern; it's truly befitting of a car of the future. The center console is touch-sensitive instead of making use of traditional buttons and knobs. A LCD touch screen is in place which controls the radio, Bluetooth system and a hard drive for music storage. Another LCD screen showcases information such as mileage and fuel consumption.

Engineers have included a large number of safety precautions and systems. Standard safety features include ABS brakes, traction control and stability control. Air bags are in place and the vehicle comes with OnStar Service, which contacts emergency responders during an accident. The Volt comes with a safety feature that automatically makes a noise alert in order to let pedestrians now when the vehicle is in motion since its electric motor is almost inaudible.

A large number of amenities have been included for ultimate driver and passenger safety such as seventeen inch alloy wheels, keyless ignition, a telescoping steering wheel, a voice activated command system and the ability to plug in a music player via USB. You can even install an application to your cell phone that allows you to charge the car at their convenience. There is also a feedback system in place that encourages efficient driving via a ball on the display that turns green when you're doing well and yellow when you're not. The trunk is a tad on the smaller side at 10.6 cubic feet.

All in all, the Volt is a very unique vehicle and the first to offer a combined electric and traditional powertrain along with an impressive interior that will surely please anyone who enjoys technology. The base cost for the Volt is at around $40,280 but there is a $7500 tax credit available from the government, which should be a great incentive for those who are interested in purchasing the car.

At that point, the fuel tank can be filled just as in a normal car to give another 300 miles of range. If the car can be plugged into a wall outlet, the battery can be fully recharged in about 10 hours on normal 120-volt household current, or four hours with a special 240-volt charging station. Among other things, it allows the owner to pre-heat or pre-cool the vehicle before getting in. A navigation system is standard, as is a hard drive for storing digital-music files. Leather upholstery, heated front seats, front- and rear-obstacle detection, and a rearview camera are optional. This evaluation is based on preview test drives.
Occupant protection continues with a strong structure, and the Chevrolet Volt's body-frame-integral structure strategically blends advanced steels to help ensure crashworthiness and stiffness. Nearly 80 percent of the Chevrolet Volt's overall structure consists either of high-strength, advanced high-strength or ultra high-strength steel. Active occupant protection features include eight standard air bags and safety belts with dual pretensioners to help reduce the risk of injury.

After a crash, the Chevrolet Volt offers the security of OnStar, which uses built-in vehicle sensors to automatically alert an OnStar advisor in certain types of collisions. The advisor is immediately connected to the vehicle and can request that emergency help be sent to its location.

Because the Chevrolet Volt operates so quietly in all-electric mode, a driver-activated feature sounds a noise to alert pedestrians, particularly those with visual impairments, in an intersection. The alert was developed in conjunction with the American Federation of the Blind

The Chevrolet Impala is a full size, five-passenger sedan powered by its front wheels and last updated in 2006. The platform underpinning the sedan dates back to the late 1980s, meaning that this car is ancient by today's standards. Competing models include the Hyundai Azera, Ford Taurus and Toyota Avalon, sedans that are modern, efficient and stylish. The Impala has none of these attributes and won't enjoy an extensive update before 2014.

The delay for the Chevy Impala can be attributed to GM working on a new, full size car platform for Cadillac, a variation of the same that will underpin the next generation Chevrolet Impala. Dubbed the Cadillac XTS, that new model will replace both the STS and DTS, two of Cadillac's older models. Once Cadillac gets the XTS, Chevrolet will see the next generation Impala. But, not a day sooner.
Chevrolet displayed the all-new 2012 Sonic at the 2011 North American International Auto Show. Its youthful, aggressive design is backed by turbocharged performance and agile ride and handling, combining to deliver an efficient, fun-to-drive small car.

The Chevrolet Sonic is offered in two body styles: a stylish four-door sedan and a sporty five-door. Each delivers class-leading rear-seat roominess and cargo space. A variety of connectivity features enhance the driving experience.

Estimated Price: Prices have yet to be announced for this special edition Camaro, designed to take on the Ford Mustang Shelby GT500. However, a sticker price somewhere north of $50,000 seems likely, keeping in line with what the top of the range 'Stang is going for.

Exterior – ZL1’s signature from the front is the redesigned fascia and aluminum hood with a raised, carbon fiber insert. The fascia includes a front splitter and new vertical fog lamps. The fog lamp area includes air intakes designed for brake cooling. The hood features front-mounted air extractors that direct air precisely over the car. Visually, this center section, in satin black carbon fiber, communicates the car’s high-performance intent as a visual contrast to the car’s exterior color. Functionally, the air extractor is a key in connecting airflow closely to the bodywork, creating aerodynamic downforce. The carbon fiber center section reduces the mass of the hood. High-intensity discharge (HID) headlamps and fog lamps are standard. The rear of the car includes a diffuser and spoiler, also functional elements that enhance the car’s aerodynamics.

A special-edition Chevrolet Camaro SS Convertible will serve as the official pace car of the 2011 Indianapolis 500. Chevrolet and Indianapolis Motor Speedway officials made the announcement at the Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale classic auto auction, where a bidder will have the opportunity to purchase the first of 50 Indianapolis 500 Festival Committee cars.

Visually, exterior enhancements include a redesigned fascia mated with an aluminum hood featuring a raised, carbon fiber insert. New vertical fog lamps, air intakes, air extractors, HID headlamps and a rear diffuser and spoiler are among the particulars offered. The forged-aluminum wheels are the same size as the 20-inch wheels found on the Camaro SS, but are lighter and paired with Goodyear Supercar F2 tires.

Making its global debut at the 2011 Chicago Auto Show, the ZL1 takes its name from a limited production model from four decades back. In 1969, GM produced just 69 copies of an all-aluminum racing engine with the same name what has long been the most powerful Camaro ever built. That's about to change with the 2012 Camaro ZL1, a model producing 550 foot-pounds of torque.

The Camaro ZL1 transmission should appeal to enthusiasts who have a need for performance. The transmission is used with a dual-mass flywheel and twin-disc clutch shifting ease and operation. A new, shorter-throw shifter drives the shifting gears. Drivers will be able to bring their rides to a quick, safe stop as this model includes track-capable Brembo brakes.

While tooling down the road, drivers will be able to select tour and sport modes of the coupe's magnetic ride suspension, enhancing shock damping while minimizing body roll. Standard rear stabilizer bars feature drop links that have been repositioned outboard of the control arms, providing effective body roll control. Electric steering has been improved for this model, giving the driver greater feedback.
The ZL1 name is derived from the all-aluminum racing engine of the same name, which was developed in the late 1960s and installed into a handful of regular-production 1969 Camaros. Only 69 were built with the engine, but they've achieved mythical status among enthusiasts, as they represented the pinnacle in Camaro performance - until now. The 2012 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 model is designed to be a major leap forward for the Camaro, bringing a new level of performance capability to the segment.

With a horsepower of 320 the Chevy Tahoe can effortlessly tow up to 8500 lbs and is an ideal companion for the family on a fishing expedition or a winter vacation with snowmobiles. Available with the LT models, this package component includes specially tuned springs and monotube shocks, skid plate package, an exclusive automatic locking rear differential and integrated wheel flares. There are other important features such as aluminum wheels, recovery hooks, tubular assist steps and a unique front fascia with chrome grille.
As per the company’s leaning towards safety, they have included several features so as to showcase their efforts in providing extreme safety during inevitable accidents, crashes, and collisions. Antilock brake systems, or also known as ABS, has been designed so as to assist in maintaining steering control. This system does this by reducing wheel lockup during hard braking on slippery surfaces. The StabiliTrak Electronic Stability Control System has been added in so as to improve vehicle stability especially on slick surfaces. When this feature senses that the 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe is not responding to steering input, it automatically adjusts the engine torque and brake pressure at each wheel so as to assist the driver in getting the Tahoe back on track. Other safety features include Daytime Running Lamps, the OnStar system, the Lower Anchors and Top tethers for Children, or LATCH, system, frontal air bags, side-impact airbags, head-curtain side air bags, and front air bags with passenger sensing system.

For the 1967 Chevelle SS for sale, Chevrolet included the same standard transmission, a 3-speed manual. However, most SS buyers opted for the 4-speed transmission, which was available at the time for an additional $105. Precise numbers of 4-speed and 3-speed sales are not available, but it does seem that the non-standard 4-speed is much more prevalent. Chevrolet also offered a 2-speed Powerglide transmission as well as a 3-speed Turbo Hydra-matic option but both of these are rare from today's perspective.

Chevrolet also included a padded instrument panel and an energy-absorbing steering column due to U.S. safety regulations that the government had enacted the year before. The dashboard was essentially the same one included with the three previous models, which is very bland compared to other muscle cars of the time. For this reason, the dashboard is one of the most popular aspects of interior customization. Chevy did offer an optional tachometer this model year, which they positioned to the left of the steering wheel.

Upon introduction of this vehicle, the Rear Wheel Drive trim level has been made available equipped with a standard 4.3 liter V6 engine. It can actually produce some 190 units of horsepower engine. With that, it can achieve 16 mpg for city driving and some 21 mpg for highway travails. As per the All Wheel Drive trim level, this came equipped with a standard 4.3 liter V6 engine. It has the capacity and capability to produce some 190 units of horsepower that enables this vehicle to take up 15 mpg for city driving and 19 mpg on the highway. Made standard for both trim levels, the Chevrolet Astro Cargo Van has a four speed automatic transmission system with overdrive.
