The gearbox is a dual clutched affair which works notably well. There's a slight delay whenever you flick the paddles yet in general it feels very responsive and sharp. The car is quite definitely rear wheel drive. The seating position is very back and harks back to old school, honest GT's and blended with the sharp steering you've whole faith in exactly where the front of the vehicle is gonna go. This super car can easily go round edges very, very quick - in case you try hard enough you could actually compete with a four-wheel drive 911 Turbo. It's also really quick in a straight line - indeed outstanding for a heavy, front engined Grand Tourer.

Eternally the new Merc ML looks much better. This is of course only personal opinion, but you try and find someone who doesn't agree. It really does look great with a much more rounded feel and a nose that is achingly good looking for a 4x4.

Internally the improvements have really come a long way. All the materials used are not just of a high quality, but of the kind of quality you would expect in Mercedes of old. It feels like Mercedes have tried to see if they really can still produce an exceptional car with this new ML. There are little touches like brushed aluminum on the air vents that really set it apart. There is of course seating for 5 adults and plenty of room for their luggage.

For those countries who have yet to mobilize via cars like the USA (China for example), the government is able to impose slightly more draconian taxes without backlash from the general population. Most recently, China has proposed implementing a new tax structure to benefit those who decide to get a little more fuel efficient smaller engine. (China Car Times) Though I can't say I agree with the government dictating what people's behavior should be, it's a more than effective method to take the "green" road. Given the levels of smog in Beijing we have all been a witness to from viewing the Olympics, such a tax can only help their problems with pollution. Here's an example of some of the "tax reform" levels Chinese car buyers will see:
